Le Thi Quy: The Cat's Mother

Meet the woman caring for feline friends on the streets of Saigon

For nearly 40 years, the cats of Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City (commonly known as Saigon) have had a local ally looking out for them. Le Thi Quy, an octogenarian resident of the city’s Dinh Tien Hoang Street, has opened her home as an animal refuge.

“For nearly 40 years the cats of Saigon have had a local ally looking out for them”

In a humbling new video, filmmaking duo Andrew Piggott, a Sydney native who has made ads for the likes of Coca-Cola, Visa and the World Health Organization, and Vietnamese producer Doan Phuong Ha, capture the urban saint as she reflects in finding refuge in care.
